Project Description

Created on the basis of my fascination to the endless variety of texture. The design structure of the book was founded with the intention of creating maximum legibility and interesting textural imagery of the referenced materials.

The primary source of texture inspiration came from the dots that are achieved when printing using a risograph. In order to create the look without using a risograph I manipulated the imagery digitally in order to achieve the same look.

Type was arranged using a strong foundation of grids and drive to increase legibility and reader flow. Disconnected and gridded larger text was employed to create visual interest in titles and create type play. This style was chosen to provide a modernized chic feel to bring the collected history of type into a newer context. Images of full alphabetical Hamilton wood type and metal type are showcased in the book for the reader to have accurate visuals to correspond with the primarily emphasized part of the text.
